QFA Position on COVID-19 (Coronavirus) as at 16 March 2020
We want to reassure our athletes and members that we are closely monitoring the COVID-19 situation and its potential impact on our community and our events. QFA is being guided by the advice of relevant government and public health authorities and our responses will continue to be informed by that advice.
In these unique and challenging times we will continue to adapt our practices as appropriate with the health and safety of our community at the forefront of every decision.
Queensland Fencing Association (QFA) continues to follow the advice provided by the Queensland Department of Health (DOH) and the Australian Government Department of Health in relation to coronavirus (COVID-19). Our number one priority is the health and wellbeing of our fencing community.
The World Health Organization has announced that COVID-19 is a pandemic. It is the role of QFA to do everything in our control to keep our members safe. This can only be achieved with your cooperation and support.
Your health
If you suspect that you may have COVID-19 and are experiencing common symptoms including fever, breathing difficulties such as breathlessness, cough, sore throat and fatigue, please follow advice from DOH, seek medical advice and testing. Once you have sought medical advice you should let QFA know by emailing the QFA President.
If you have travelled overseas in the past 14 days or if you suspect that you may have come into contact with a person infected with COVID-19 please do not attend any club or QFA fencing event. Once you have sought medical advice you should let QFA know by emailing the QFA President. You will be required to present a medical clearance certificate before you will be allowed to participate in fencing activities again.
If you have tested positive to the virus you are not to attend any club or QFA facility or event until such time that you have received medical clearance to do so.
