Event information

Late registrations for this event are closed.

This event has not been cancelled and will still be held as scheduled on Saturday 21 March subject to any changes in advice received from the relevant government and medical authorities. However, fencers should note that there will be significant control measures in place at the event. These include, but are not limited to:

  • All equipment must be disinfected prior to and after the competition. This particulalry applies to masks, gloves, breastplates, groin protection, and bodywires.

  • No spectators will be allowed at the event.

  • No non-essential people at the event (only competitors, DT, and SCD)

  • No children under 14.

  • No use of the bubblers or other shared water sources. QFA has a drinks vending machine in the office for the purchase of drinks and chocolates.

  • All fencers are to thoroughly wash or sanitise their hands.

  • Fencers will be required to social distance when not on the piste.

  • There will not be a canteen.

  • Any person who has been overseas in the past 14 days, is waiting for test results, is subject to self-isolation conditions is not allowed at the venue.

  • Immunocompromised fencers should reconsider whether it is in their own health interests to compete and this decision should be made with relevant medical consultation.

  • Anyone showing any symptoms of the virus are not to attend (even if it just turns out to be a head cold).

  • Anyone who attends the event unwell will be removed.

 

Further measures may be added closer to the event.

QFA reserves the right to cancel the event at short notice should the situation warrant such action.

 

The first round of the QFA Open Circuit for 2020 will be held on Saturday, 21 March at Yeronga SHS, Villa St, Yeronga.

All fencers are required to be Junior or Senior Members of the Queensland Fencing Association in order to enter. Interstate or International competitors are welcome and should register contact tmc@qfa.org.au for more information.

Standard entries close by 6:00pm 18th March and late fees apply after this time.

 

All Veteran Fencers (Ages 40+ in 2019) will also receive QFA Veteran Ranking Points from the competition - the Veteran Results will be extracted from the Open Competition rather than being a separate event.

 

To compete in multiple events, please register for each individually.

Venue opens for setup at 07:00am - all partipants in the first event are expected to assist with setup.

Men's Epee - 7:30 am
Women's Epee - 7:30 am
Women's Sabre - 11:00 am
Men's Sabre - 11:30 am
Women's Foil - 1:00 pm
Men's Foil - 1:00 pm

**Competitors will be expected to referee poules.

Fencers need to be there at least 30 minutes before the start time to get ready. Competitions are fenced using full electric equipment, including conductive foil masks. Medallists will need a club tracksuit jacket or shirt or fencing whites for presentations.

All fencers are expected to assist with the setup and pack down of the venue.

No additional referees will be used for this event. Referees will be sourced from the poule of competitors.
