2019 Level 0 /Level 1 Coaching Course
Catering to candidates who want to learn the fundamentals of coaching and how to apply them.
Level 0 accomodates basic learn to fence class instruction and succesfull candidates will be able to coach single introductory sessions for events and promotion through to a complete group introductory class of 6 to 8 weeks duration. Well suited to coaches who want to introduce people to the sport at the most basic level for their club or association, usually in an environment supervised by a more experienced coach. Level 0 is not weapon specific.
Level 1 builds on the level 0 and develops a greater understanding of class instruction and the ability to expand on the learn to fence class structure and teach more in depth tactical application, bouting structure and competition skills. Level 1 also deals with fundamental individual lesson instruction and coaches who complete the level 1 course and assesment will be able to give beginner level individual instruction and are more capable of working unsupervised and dealing with both instruction and group managment. Well suited to coaches who want to work in school coaching programs or develop club beginners into fundemental competitors. Level 1 is weapon specific
All candidates will need to complete the ASC online community coaching course before they undertake the fencing specific course. It is free and takes around 1 hour to complete

All candidates will require a working with children card after they have completed the course and before they can register as a coach (with the exception of candidates under 18 years of age)
All candidates will require a first aid certificate after they have completed the course and before they can register as a coach
Candidates will need to complete 10 hours of managed practice between completion of the course and registering as a qualified coach.
