Event information
The conclusion of the Queensland State Competition season is the Open and Veteran Championships. QFA will be hosting the Open and Veteran Championships at Yeronga on Saturday 13 April 2024.
All fencers must be paid and approved Junior or Senior members of QFA in order to enter the event. Fencers must be a minimum age of 13 on 1 January 2024 or have the permission of a suitably qualified coach in order to compete in this event.
All fencers intending to compete in this competition MUST register through the event link. No walkins will be accepted on the day.
All fencers participating in this event will receive QFA ranking points in both open and all other age categories for which they are eligible. Age is determined by the fencer's age on January 1. Age categories include Youth (U15), Cadet (U17), Junior (U20) and Veterans (over 40). The DT reserves the right to extract Veterans results from the open competition.
To compete in multiple events, please register for each individually. Events will not be held up for fencers who have entered multiple weapons or who arrive late. Registration for your second and third weapon is at half price.
All participants are expected to assist with setup and pack down of the venue. Competitors will be expected to assist in refereeing where required, where assessed as competent by the state refereeing director.
Competitions are fenced using full whites and electric equipment, including conductive foil masks. Weight and gauge will be tested prior to each bout. Fencers must supply their own equipment. QFA is unable to lend equipment to fencers.
Fencers must arrive at least 30 minutes before the event start time to get ready. Fencers must be fully equipped and ready to fence at the start time for their event. Events will not be held up for fencers who arrive late.
Check-in will open prior to the event start time, as announced by the DT, approximately 30 minutes prior to the start of the event. Fencers are encouraged to check-in as soon as check-in opens. Check-in will close at the published event start time. The DT reserves the right to start the event early if all competitors are checked in.
Medallists will need a club tracksuit jacket or shirt, or full fencing whites for presentations.
