QFA Open & Veteran State Championships

The conclusion of the Queensland State Competition season if the Open and Veteran Championships.

All fencers must be full Junior or Senior members of QFA in order to enter the event. Fencers must be a minimum age of 13 on 1 January 2022 and have the permission of the State Head Coach to fence in this competition.

All fencers intending to compete in this competition MUST register through the event link. No walkins will be accepted on the day.

All Veteran Fencers (Ages 40+ in 2022) may also receive QFA Veteran Ranking Points from the Open competition, in addition to the Veteran Championship events.

To compete in multiple events, please register for each individually. Events will not be held up for fencers who have entered multiple weapons or who arrive late. Registration for your second and third weapon is at half price.

All participants are expected to assist with setup and pack down of the venue.

Mens Foil -  9:00am

Womens Foil - 9:30am

Veteran Womens Epee - 10:00am

Veteran Mens Epee - 10:30am

Mens Sabre - 12:30pm

Womens Sabre - 1:00pm

Mens Epee - 2:30pm

Womens Epee - 3:00pm

Veteran Mens Foil - 4:00pm

Veteran Womens Foil - 4:00pm

**Competitors may be be expected to referee poules dependent on competition numbers and referee availability.

Fencers need to be at the venue at least 30 minutes before the start time to get ready. Competitions are fenced using full electric equipment, including conductive foil masks. Medallists will need a club tracksuit jacket or shirt or fencing whites for presentations.

The event may start as soon as checkin closes, if all fencers in the events are present. Events will not be held up for fencers who arrive late.

The following COVID measures are in place for this event:

  • Any person who is waiting for test results, is subject to self-isolation conditions, or is subject to quarantine conditions (such as a close contact) is not allowed at the venue.
  • Immunocompromised fencers should reconsider whether it is in their own health interests to compete and this decision should be made with relevant medical consultation.
  • Anyone showing any symptoms of the virus are not to attend (even if it just turns out to be a head cold).
  • Anyone who attends the event unwell will be removed.

Further measures may be added/removed closer to the event subject to state or federal government requirements.

QFA reserves the right to cancel the event at short notice should the situation warrant such action.
