QFA School Individual Competition Round 4 2014

The fourth and final round of the QFA School Individual Competition will be held on Sunday 26 October (please note that this is a change from the original published date in order to avoid clashing with the G20 Summit in Brisbane). This round will be held at All Hallows School, 549 Ann Street, Brisbane.

As this is the final round, the presentations for School and Individual Champions in each category will be presented at the conclusion of the events. Full details of the rankings so far this year can be found in the School Fencing page on the QFA Website.

QFA Squad Program Block 4

Block 4 of the QFA Squad Program starts on Saturday 4 October (Senior Squads) and Saturday 11 October (Junior Development Squads). Full Details about these sessions can be found on the Queensland Senior and Development Squad Page, and Registrations should be made via the Online Registration system by 11 October 2014.

Women in Fencing Holiday Camp (1-2 October)

QFA is hosting a Holiday Training Camp specifically for female students which will be held at Yeronga from 1-2 October. A number of of Queensland’s developing female coaches will be assisting during the camp, which will consist of a number of sessions focusing on different aspects of fencing including general fencing tactics and techniques, specialised coaching in different weapons and competition (designated as a QFA Squad Competition).


Wednesday 1 October

Session 1: 9:00 am – 12:00 pm

            Specialised Training Clinics (please pick one during registration)



                        Novice Foil (1-2 years of fencing experience)

                        Intermediate/Advanced Foil (2+ years of fencing experience

Session 2: 12:00 pm – 4:00 pm

            QFA Squad Competition (Women’s Foil – U11/U13/U15/U17)

The entry fee for the Squad Competition is automatically included for fencers who register for both days or for the single day including the competition – alternatively fencers can pay a $30 entry fee to participate in the competition either by itself or in combination with a single day registration for the first day of the camp


COST: The cost for the camp is $100 for both days, or $60 for a single day.

WHAT TO BRING: Participants should wear comfortable sports clothing. They should bring a water bottle and as much fencing equipment as possible (although equipment will be available to borrow if required). Please note that there is no canteen running during the camp, so participants need to bring their own food – however, drinks will be available to purchase.

Queensland U20 State Championships 2014

The Queensland U20 State Championships will be held on Saturday 20 September. This competition is open to all fencers born in 1994 or later.

Entry to each event is $30 and should be made through the online payment system (see the registrations and Payments Section). Entries made by the Wednesday prior to the competition have a discounted price of $25. All fencers will need to be Junior members of the Queensland Fencing Association in order to register (although Interstate or International competitors are welcome - please contact [email protected] to register). To compete in multiple events, please complete a separate registration for each one.

The start times for each event are:

Men's Epee - 8:00 am
Women's Epee - 8:00 am
Women's Sabre - 11:30 am
Men's Sabre - 12:30 pm
Women's Foil - 1:30 pm
Men's Foil - 2:30 pm

Fencers need to be there at least 15 minutes before the start time to get ready. Competitions are fenced using full electric equipment, including conductive foil masks. Medalists will need a tracksuit jacket or fencing whites for presentations.

There will be a canteen available on the day.
