QFA Volunteer and Officials Induction

QFA will be holding an Induction/Information session for Volunteers and Officials on Saturday 24 January at 10:00 am at Yeronga SHS.

This session will cover some of the important expectations and policies affecting QFA Officials and Volunteers, including Member Protection Information, relevant QFA policies and procedures, and risk management at Fencing venues.

This session is open to all members of the fencing community, and is a requirement for all coaches/officials who want to receive payment from QFA this year. If you have a valid Suitability Card (Blue Card), please bring it to this session.

QFA Calendar for 2015

The provisional Calendar for QFA Events for next year (2015) has now been added to the website. Please view the Calendar Tab to view the events (which can be filtered by event type).

Please note that the calendar is still provisional at this stage - event times and details are still subject to change. More information for each event will be available closer to the specific date.

Queensland Open and Veteran State Championships 2014

The Queensland State Championships will be held on Saturday 22 November. The inaugural Queensland Veteran Championships will also be held on that day.

Entry to each event is $30 and should be made through the online payment system. Entries made by Thursday 20 November have a discounted price of $25. Veteran participants can pay a single fee of $35 for both the Open and Veteran event in a single weapon. All fencers will need to be members of the Queensland Fencing Association in order to register (although Interstate or International competitors are welcome - please contact [email protected] to register).

 

To participate in multiple events, please complete a separate registration for each event.


The start times for each event are:

Open Men's Epee - 8:00 am
Open Women's Epee - 8:00 am
Open Women's Sabre - 11:30 am
Open Men's Sabre - 12:30 pm
Open Women's Foil - 1:30 pm
Open Men's Foil - 2:30 pm

 

The timetable for the Veteran events is below. Please note that this event will be running concurrently with the Open Championships, so it will not be possible to fence in both Open and Veteran events in all weapons. 

 

Veteran Sabre - 8:00 am

Veteran Foil - 10:00 am

Veteran Epee - 1:30 pm 

Fencers need to be there at least 15 minutes before the start time to get ready. Competitions are fenced using full electric equipment, including conductive foil masks. Medalists will need a tracksuit jacket or fencing whites for presentations.

QFA Squad Competition #4 (Saturday 8 November)

The QFA Squad Competitions are designed to give younger fencers more experience in competitions. The competition is for Under 15, Under 13 and Under 11 Fencers (born 1999 or later). The competition will be fenced in a modified format, with exact details (including separate divisions, etc.) decided once the number of registrations are known.

 

Each event will cost $30 and registrations can be made via QFA's online system (see the Registrations and Payments page for details). Registrations made by Thursday 6 November have a discounted entry of $25. Fencers must be Junior Members of QFA to compete (School Fencer Members can upgrade their membership via the link on the Memberships page if required)

The competition will be held at Yeronga SHS, Villa St Yeronga at the following times. (Fencers should arrive at least 20 minutes before the start time to warm up and get ready):

Epee - 9:30 am

Sabre - 12:00 pm

Foil - 2:00 pm

 

The competition will be fenced using full electric equipment (foil bibs not required), but some equipment will be available to borrow or hire if required. The full list of equipment required is below:

Jacket, Breeches, Fencing Glove and Long Socks (underplastron is recommended)

Breast Plate/Chest protector is recommended for all competitors and required for female competitors

2 working electric weapons

2 working body wires (and mask wire for Sabre)

Fencing Mask

Lame for Foil and Sabre
